Bargainista/Fashionista Contest - My Olian Colorblock Chiffon Maternity Top - Burda 07-2014-111

Burda 07-2014-111

I love the idea behind Bargainista/Fashionista Contest on Pattern Review. I am no good at doing imitations but it sure is fun to try and of course you will never get better without exercise. So this is my attempt to copy one of the maternity top from Nordstorm shop - Colorblock Chiffon Maternity Top.

I started from a pattern well known to me from Burda 07-2014-111 - the split sleeve trapezoid top :
that I already have sewed 3 times : the muslin, the actual top and the dress.

This time I removed some part from the sleeve ( the pink hash ) :
I added a front seam to be able to add more room for my belly and hide it behind the white strap.
I am not sure what the fabric actually is since I got it from be small coupon box at a local store - 5 RON each ( that is about 1.3$ ). They put in this box pieces that are to small to sell as they are or have small defects and you can always find some interesting fabrics here if you are into small projects or open to combine them with something else to get your pieces.

The result is far from perfect but I think it is fun to wear and I am happy with it.

More and more colors needed for my clutch collection...

I am so happy I did a little clean-up in my scraps box. Now I have a few new clutches in my collection. There are details about my sewing process in one of my prevuious posts.

This one is from a beautiful quilting cotton and it is my new buttons holder:
The white Ikea fabric ones have already been gifted. The scraps are from my beautiful reversible retro apron.
The others are from quilting cotton as well and are still waiting for their mission.
I just love all this fabrics. You can't help smiling looking at them.

My new maternity TNT - the blue jersey dress

amazing jersey maternity dress

This is actually the first jersey dresses I managed to sew between holidays for my pregnancy wardrobe. Is a soft and warm jersey as well.

The pattern is drafted after an old RTW dress that I cut because  it was to worn out. It is a very simple pattern - just 2 pieces for front and back + cuffs + neck binding. It has elastic band sewed just under the bust line.

Since I already sewed the pattern 2 more times you can bet I loved this dress.

My new maternity TNT - the green jersey dress

amazing jersey maternity dress
This is one of the 2 jersey dresses I managed to sew between holidays for my pregnancy wardrobe. It is a very pleasant fabric perfect for the cold season and I just love the print.

The pattern is drafted after an old RTW dress that I cut because  it was to worn out. It is a very simple pattern - just 2 pieces for front and back + cuffs + neck binding. It has elastic band sewed just under the bust line.
It went together fast and I am quite pleased with it.

My new maternity TNT - the velvet top

I had a RTW jersey dress that I kept wearing and wearing and even tho I don't think it was design for maternity it was not bad at all for it. It was so worn out that I got the heart to cut it and draft a pattern after it. I first sew 2 dresses matching the pattern and then I found this velvet scraps and some lace and I improvised some blocking to match my scraps. I could not be more pleased about this really fast top.

And some details:
I still have to sort through the dresses photos so I will come back with those in a new post.
