New green owls outfit - ottobre 1/2016 #5 & 3/2015 #7

ottobre 1/2013 #5 & 3/2015 #7
Since I started to force myself to make time for sewing again I managed to trace some patterns for Eva so I will be doing some sewing as well now. The patterns used now are both Ottobre ( there is nothing more practical and comfortable so far from my experience).
The leggings are very very easy and fast and quite OK for the warm weather (I traced size 80 that should be just a bit bigger and they are more like 3/4 length) . I would say this is not my favorite pattern for leggings but is not bad specially if you don't want to cut some nice print ( no front and side seams ) and is easy. At least after you read the joining instruction. For this pair I joined panels in the wrong order and got some small problems but you can hardly see them on this print.  The top is more interesting and I can't wait to try a version with some contrast for yoke. when I seen the drawing I thought of a woven fabric but then it called for jersey and it is quite fit and may not have been comfortable otherwise. - Ottobre 1/2016 #5 - Pocahontas jersey top.

I added a ruffle to the hem to make it more like a dress and it doesn't seem to have been a bad idea. I got quite a nice outfit in in end: fun print, interesting design and comfortable to play in it.

Baby wraparound bodysuits - Ottobre 06-2007-5

 Ottobre 06-2007-5
Even a month ago I would not have even think to try make a bodysuit for the baby. It seems like there is a lot of work for it and too difficult for me. But in weekend I got some plastic snaps from my sister in law and her installation tools and I was amazed about how well and easy they can be attached. I was hooked. For now I only have 2 colors but I ordered more. It will take a while to get them but I had to try and do this pattern now because I know this is what the baby will really wear.
I traced 56 and now looking at the pattern photo I realized I put the snaps wrong but I am OK with them like this. I also don't have the skills to do that beautiful RTW look of the rib binding but my self bias gave it a clean closing and firm edge.
I did 5 of this ( the owls print twice ) :
played a little trying to match strips on the chevron fabric :
the gingham will be so good with all the other items I sewed lately :
And I still have way to much of the flower power print. I am a little bored with it but is really good quality fabric and it will be good for the baby to be in it:
And each of them has a matching footed baby pants:

First new baby items - a small serie of Sew Much Ado footed baby pants

Footed Baby Pants
The new baby should be here soon so I finally decided to start sew a little for her. I remember from the boy that footed pants were my favorite to use. It is a pain to try and keep socks on such little humans and with this you don't have to coordinate with the socks as well. I also remembered seeing some free pattern for it and it was not hard to find it again here. It is a simple pdf pattern and it is free for personal use:
The only shame is that it comes in just one size. There are also some nice illustrated instructions provided and this time I actually used them since it wasn't 100% clear to me how and where to start even with all the matching markings on the pattern. The pinning goes a little crazy to the end but it was not as bad as I first expected working with such small pieces:
I think I got a little carried away with all this prints ... but having a boy before I had to hold off on that a lot so... I deserved a little going crazy.
Anyway I really love the results and hope they will be modeled soon.
I am very proud of my print maching on the chevron piece. Also on this ones and the owls print I skipped the side seam ( put front and back together and cut as one piece).

Flower power - this was the test drive. I still have tons of this fabric left:

I have a similar solid green RTW but I think mine look less boxy and more comfortable.
I even like mine better on the inside:
I highly recommend this pattern for new babies.
And they go really well with the matching wraparound bodysuits :

Loving owls top - Burda 04/2014 #122

I had this top pattern traced for a few months now but I never seemed to find the time to do it. Not the best timing to do it now when the weather here just got cold and rainy. But I had trouble finding time and energy to sew lately so going for a pattern already traced seemed like a good idea.

It is hard to see the pattern lines with all this colorful owls around so here is a look at the pattern:
I like how the top turned out in the end. Is a bit lose on the shoulders. And I think I will add elastic to the sleeve hem after all.

But what I am proud the most is the inside. I added facing to the neck line and used bias bindings on all seams.
