Clasic back and white tee - my first Lekala pattern - blouse lekala #4511

lekala #4511
I have been wanting to try Lekala patterns for some time. The idea of custom sized patterns I am pretty sure is very attractive to many. I am still trying to decide what my feeling is after sewing this pattern. it seems like my 1st choice of pattern is not a very common one. I haven't managed t find any other project on this pattern - Lekala #4511
I am wearing my tee today to see how I feel in it. It seems to me that it shapes nicely on the bust and I like that but is very loose on the waist down and I think I don't like that very much. It is an interesting design that calls for creative color blocking and I am really tempted to do more just to mix and match fabrics.
I was surprised by the back darts. They are not common on knit patterns but I did them and they turned out OK. Is probably a nice touch. The side panels on the front are doing the bust shaping and that is a tricky attachment there. mine are not that bad but I think there is still space for improvement and there isn't any indication on how to do it better. I did a muslin 1st and the neck was quite high so I widened the neck all around ( maybe a bit to much !?! ) and added rib on all ends : neck, sleeve, hem.

I think that I should redo the hem and turn the band on the inside. The white from the center panel is whiter then the side panels... some small stretches ... somehow not really what I envisioned but an interesting tee. I wanted to love it but I'm not really there.

  1. I like it! It looks nice on you and packs quite a graphic punch. The back looks neat too. I would say definitely try it again. It looks like it would work well for leftover fabric scraps too. I think the use of the third fabric in the center part makes it extra special.

    1. Thank you! The possibility of fabric combos is what 1st attracted my eye and I will probably not resist the temptation to do it again. Maybe my mistake is that the 3 fabric are quite different in weight and texture and I don't feel that the stretch of the fabric help, quite the contrary.

  2. I was drawn to this when I saw your review. You should consider making the neck a v-neck. It will add to the drama and echo the line of the rest of the blouse. That may make you like it. The round neck does not work with the strong, mgraphic lines..
It is too loose on the sides.this pattern calls for drama and needs to be closer fitting.
You did an excellent job with fabric choices. And the back is wonderful as well.
Would you like it better if the side panels were darker and therefore gave you some waist definition?
I am considering this pattern! You have sparked my interest.

    1. Yeah! I am still intrigued ! and I think best way to answer is to keep on trying! I like the V neck idea. I hope you do one as well and share it! It was so frustrating to not find any other projects on this pattern.
