StyleArc Harmony to + cigarette pants

This summer I ripped one pair of RTW pants and made a new one using the old as pattern. I was quite pleased with the result and determined to do more. So I have made 2 more pairs. I kept thinking what top would be best with this pants and had a few favorites in past patterns but in the end decided to try a new one - Style arc harmony top:

The first version I did as actual pattern. It was not bad but the neckline is a bit too high and the dart also should hit a bit lower for me. The pants are in a stretchy fabric this time so I took them in a bit in the upper part and used silk for pockets lining. It was a real pain to work with it but feel like it worth it every time I put my hand in the pocket and get a nice feeling there.

I was very happy I managed to finish this combo in time to submit it for Pattern Review Match Your Shoes Contest. I only managed to get phone photos on the last day of the contest with my son behind camera as I was on a family trip that week but I was happy I finally managed to submit something and felt a bit like my old self.

The pockets are along the entire waistline in the front and I think I like them very much like this. More stable , less gapping. I used french seam for them and added pocket facings after. 

The second pair of pants done in a vivid neon salmon color with waffle texture is a bit larger as the fabric was more stiff and no stretch. They feel quite great. The top is a floral cotton batiste. Very very light fabric. Maybe a bit too light for this top. I did it very slightly larger and fixed the neckline and the dart. The neckline and the ruffles on the sleeves are finished with self bias fabric. Love this finishing. Both tops are longer then the pattern.

And some small eye candies in the end. My daughter sow some hair bands with bows in the store she really liked but the fabric from with they were made was really crappy so I promised her I will make some better myself.  For two weeks she kept asking when will I make her bows so here they are. Really cute. I have so many fabrics I should make more.

The pink pants fabric is from this summer. I only did one "fabric shopping trip" and bought 5 or 6 fabric and happy to say that 3 of them are already sewn. The other 3 fabrics ( the blues ) are from last summer crop. Feels like my stash is going just a little bit down but I still have so many fabric ... I need to find some way to donate some and be a bit more picky when I buy!

Top and cardigan to match my new boots

I Think there is no secret that I love things that are a bit different. That makes you feel unique. So I was very happy when I got a new pair of boots last fall. Just love them:

Yellow is not exactly my color but I love the print and the bright colors and the pairing with teal green. I have a pair of dark green jeans that work great with them, I have a Butterick 6492 that also works great and my winter fluffy coat has green/yellow/cream, but still not many things in my wardrobe work with them. so I decided I need a few additions.
   I first did a Style Arc Madeleine top that I had 2 muslins and some alterations done at the end of the summer and never actually got to make it and thought it would be great pattern for a solid:

I added sleeves to the pattern and tweak it a bit to better fit me.
    And I also had a teal-green tweed that matched the boots so nicely and decided to make a quick mccalls 6844 cardigan to wear at work when I get cold:

I went with the same changes as in the navy scalloped version - minus the scallops.

Summer blues - a great match StyleArc amber top and BurdaStyle raglan sleeve with tie

Like I said before sewing The StyleArc amber top is quite addictive and it require little fabric so it a great option for busting a few smaller 1 meter cuts.

So while I was flipping through my stash looking for fabrics I got my hands on this beautiful rayon I ordered from China on AliExpress this spring. It had a really nice feel to the touch and I really loved it. I think they still have it in stock here and it is free shipping if you don't mind waiting a lot for it to arrive. In Romania any import under 10$ or so is free of import taxes for I only ordered one meter.

   I was a bit disappointed when it arrived because the colors were a bit darker then the picture they posted - that white is more ivory and the blue is darker than this. I  also was under the impression the print will be larger than it was but still it is a lovely fabric with a great feel and a color scheme I just love. So seeing it I immediately thought this will make a perfect amber top but I wanted some interest and the blocking offered by the pattern was not what I was looking for. I felt this top needs some interest in the sleeve and that front and back needed to be left alone just to showcase the fabric.
   The design 119 from burda 07/2018 already got me intrigued but seeing the lovely top Ellen made convinced me I really need to try this sleeve so I traced the 3 pieces for sleeve from Burda:

The front of the sleeve fit in with the style of arc top without any issues ( size 8 on the top and 36 on the sleeve). As the back in Burda is a really low cut the back sleeve didn't fit in with the back top so I had to improvise and add a small triangle of fabric to the sleeve to match the back as well.

If I will make this again I will used the style arc sleeve for the upper part and just lengthen that with the burda piece instead of using the full burda sleeve like I did.
