T-Shirt with 2 inch neckband and a a new fail in sewing for my husbund - lekala S6001

Lekala S6001
I am constantly feel a bit guilty for letting my husband out of my sewing projects. I had quite a few successful projects for my and the kinds but years pass by and still nothing significant for him... I keep trying to find something but it's not an easy quest. My last attempt was the free pattern from Lekala S6001:
I was hopeful about custom sizing but should have been also more cautious about it being a free pattern. I think I started to feel the failure right at the print : 34 pages !!! for a tee. But I went along with it.  The good part was that it was easy to sew and the V of the neck turned out OK even if it is to wide for a tee.
I almost felt hopeful until it was tried on. It was to large. The shoulders was way way off. I think I could have done a better job myself drafting the pattern... Quite disappointing again... So more postponing for a successful men project.

  2. It doesn't look too big. Did you already alter it in the photos? I also got this free pattern from Lekala but I haven't made it yet. Why do you think the sizing is wrong? Is it from the measurements you entered, or is there something wrong with the pattern itself (because it is free)? I look forward to your comments so I won't make the same mistakes also. Thanks a lot!

    1. I think that the problem is the proportions. The men patterns have very few adjustments so they make more assumptions. For example the fit around the chest area is not that bad and that is an entered measurements. It is way off for the shoulders thou and you were not asked about any measurement in that area! This is my guess at least! I am not sure why the free patterns have the worst reviews! If it would be me I would try to make the free ones really good so people would be tempted to try more! Anyway this is the only pattern that was really off from what I tried from them and a few alterations I made on the 1st one for me. After that I learned to lie a bit about my waist and my full hip and got decent fits!
