Adorable Turtles 2 - top & pants - Ottobre 6/2010 #15

Ottobre 6/2010 #15
I had a blouse started as well when I did the adorable turtles embroidery set - here - that I only got to finish this days.I had troubles with the neck band - stupid fabric not stretchy enough...   In the end I settled for this contrast red and did 2 pairs of pants as well to match it.
The pattern is from Ottobre magazine and I used it before for the pumkin blouse.
The applique design was offered for free some time but Adorable Applique site and is still available to buy now here. This time I tried some new color scheme and I am very happy with the result. Since I didn't trust the knit to hold such an applique being sewed into it I did it on a different fabric then cut it off carefully and just did some minimum stitching to hold it.
I didn't look that great this time but the boy seems happy with it and it goes nice with the turtle home shoes I did for him before.

Adorable Foxes - Maternity top - Simplicity 5369

Simplicity 5369
In the beginning of the March I had made a run one afternoon to finish this top for this contest on a Romanian forum.  I had to keep my identity secret for a while and then I was to busy with work and the boy to even make a post.
The pattern was Simplicity 5369 that I bought thinking I will make myself a "ie" - Romanian traditional blouse. The pattern is very simple and easy to do and I had a muslin for it a while back that was a good thing because now I knew I needed to add to ease at the neck line and some length for the extra belly.
The fabric is 100% non stretch cotton for both the siclam and black parts and I added some embroidery band around the neck line and 2 foxes on the belly. They were suppose to look mother and daughter but I don't think I really got that effect. The fox applique is from planetapplique and is a quite nice design.
I did it all in a rush so I am not 100% pleased with how it looks on me but I am very happy I was able to finish it in time for the contest. I had the fabrics and the pattern traced and stashed for a while and I don't think I would have done it any time soon if not for the added motivation : so big Thanks "LucruDeMana" forum.

I am also quite pleased with the inside of my blouse. Since my serge machine was in service I went for french seams.

My maternity TNT - the navy polka dots top

I went shopping for fabrics this morning and I could not resist not sewing something right after. My time and my energy are not great this days so I needed something easy and fast so I pulled out my TNT from December : the velvet top and the dresses green and blue. I am in love with this top. Goes perfectly with jeans and was fast to do. I like it so much that I am tempted to do the same thing with the other fabric I got today but maybe I should try some other pattern as well.
